Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation (NFTBHF) is proud to announce its 8th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5K on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Clifton Commons in Clifton Park. Last year we raised $50,000 to help local children fight cancer! In 2016, Nick’s Fight granted over $100,000 to The Melodies Center at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med and to local families struggling to heal their children. This year we are proud to honor 5-year-old Lucas Santoro, who was diagnosed with leukemia on June 12, 2014, when he was 2. Lucas is in the maintenance phase, which is less intense than his previous treatments, but he still has many visits to the hospital. Lucas will be finished with treatment this year and will begin kindergarten in the fall. Lucas is one of approximately 90 children who are diagnosed every year just in our area.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 through Nick’s Run in 2017 in order to continue providing much needed services such as: financial assistance to families so that parents can focus on their children’s healing; funding the Child Life Specialist position in the clinic; granting newly diagnosed families our Family Hope Bag filled with basic essentials for their hospital stay; teen technology room & other programs that directly support children. All these programs have had a significant positive impact on their emotional and financial stress.
Everything we do is possible because of generous donors like you. Your business name will be seen by over 1,000 people, when you sponsor a certain run level! I sincerely hope you will support our efforts by sponsoring this year’s race. Please take a moment to review the enclosed sponsorship information. In addition to the sponsor benefits listed, if we receive your donation by July 14th, your company logo will be included on the run brochures and posters advertised in businesses throughout Clifton Park, Halfmoon and Saratoga County. We also ask that you help us promote this fundraiser and create community awareness by encouraging your staff, friends, and families to participate either individually or as a team.
NFTBHF was created in memory of my son, Nicholas Cammarata, who lost his battle to leukemia in October 2008. Our mission is to support pediatric cancer patients as well as serve the young adult cancer community. We strive to improve quality of life by promoting well-being, reducing stress within the entire family, and providing resources to help children with cancer lead fun and fulfilling lives.
